Malta Hospitality

By John Farrugia

For those Maltese devotees who are familiar with and love the island this article may have little to offer other than as a souvenir of just what the island is all about. For those not yet familiar with Malta, the best adjectives that would apex the list when writing copy such as this, would undoubtedly include 'sun-kissed',' sharply contrasting',' unhurried', 'irresistible', 'fascinating' and such like.

This is not to imply that the island is perfect. The people themselves, at the root of Maltese famous hospitality, are a fascinating blend of Roman, Byzantine, Greek and British influenced characteristics and qualities.

The Maltese, however, are proud of their individuality and warmth of character. They will welcome strangers into their homes and lives much quicker than those from the countries which influenced Malta over the years.
The exhilarating mix of Mediterranean weather and cuisine, a low cost of living, and the ease, with which one can commune, makes Malta such a favourite among the other Europeans and predominantly the British.

In countless parts of Malta you will find a life style little changed from centuries ago, when the pace of life was slower and simple pleasures were gained from an equally simple life. Wherever you travel in Malta you will not be far from blossoms, fruit and the sights and sounds of the Mediterranean. Malta has made sure it caters for more sophisticated demands with prevalent facilities for fishing, golf, cycling, sailing/yachting, swimming, nature treks, and water sports.

If you visit Malta you will be able to see many sights and archaeological monuments.

In Valletta you can see the Prime Minister office at the Auberge de Castille , Upper Barraka Garden , St John Catedrial and much more, while you tour the city you can have something to eat at a traditional Maltese tavern.

There can be few more satisfying experiences than sitting in the open air on a gentle Malta night enjoying a full scale 'meze' in the company of some friends and some wine.

A great way to spend time in Malta is to rent a Maltese property, a house villa or holiday apartment in Malta can be much better value that a hotel. If you have children you will have lots of space.
